The other weekend we went to Bute, it's something we've done before, a nice little island ride, usually it's sunny! Grabbing the Ferry over feels like a bit of an adventure, get a coffee, watch the boats. Cara loves being by the water, it reminds her of home so I always like to suggest we do something like this from time to time, even if I don't explicitly say it, I know she likes it.

Two bicycles against a wooden wall, the sea and hills visible behind them.
The bikes - looking pretty as always

We had some issues, mostly technical ones with her bike, dead left di2 shifter (no biggie) then her power meter decided to eat another battery, we're not sure if it's a bad batch of batteries or her ageing stages meter is on the way out.

New battery in now, we'll give it a few days, see if it dies She loves her Speedplays so finding a new power meter isn't going to be straightforward but we'll make it work.

I'm now like 3 weeks? 2 weeks? out from Ride To The Sun 2026 and I think I'm even less prepared than I was last year, at least in terms of volume.

But we signed up for a PT last week and he's been working us hard, not lots of leg focus, more core and upper body, but strength is strength and we're eating cleaner.

France in July though. The Alps. Alpe d'Huez. That's the one.
